Jive Club in Dartmouth
Category: Cafe, Ind. Est.Ordered at Mirasol's Café in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, right near UMass Dartmouth.
“Eizeh Yom, what a GORGEOUS day!” I proudly exclaimed to Rachel on our Sunday morning walk to Starbucks.
We both agreed today deserved the beach. And with that, Rachel and I were on a spontaneous trip to Horseneck Beach, just over an hour from Boston in Dartmouth Massachusetts. Rachel knew Dartmouth well, so I let her play tourguide.
A few hours into our fun on Horseneck and we were getting hungry. Good thing I had a “local” with me – Rachel knew just where to go. And with that, we were off to the NYC Bagel Co, a few miles from UMass Dartmouth.
Closed. Dammit.
But that didn’t matter, Rachel knew of another place: Mirasol’s Café, just 60 seconds from the NYC Bagel Co.
Would it be open? What a naïve question I thought, as we rounded the corner to Mirasol’s at 3:45pm, finding not 1 parking space empty. This place was clearly popular.
We walked into an exciting Mirasol’s Café. This was not the coffee shop I was expecting to find in Dartmouth… it was…. Cool! Super hip. The ambience made me feel like Mirasol’s belonged in Manhattan, not southern Mass. Loved the atmosphere Mirasol’s provided.
Yes I will take their Jive Club Sandwich. Yes I will take a warm baguette. Yes I want a…. ChiPPi? Um… since Rachel insisted I try, we ordered a Chippi in addition to the Frappacino I wanted. And some cookies. And a sandwich for Rach. My $5.75 (great value) club sandwich had turned into a $25 meal somehow.
Frappacino in one hand Chippi in the other, I was waaaaay caffeinated waiting for the Jive Turkey Club Sandwich. Yes that probably had an influence on my excitement, but I promise, this did not impact my taste buds! Rachel and I watched the line at Mirasol’s grow and grow while customers moved quickly through it… at 3:45pm on a Sunday in August, I was just blown away by how busy they were and how quickly they processed orders. Again, what was Mirasol’s doing in Dartmouth?! I say that as a complete compliment.
Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, with mustard mayo… there was nothing special about the Jive Turkey Club… except the bacon was not the normal bacon I was accustomed to. In fact, it seemed like either super healthy bacon or straight up veggie bacon. I didn’t ask, as either way I was craving the unhealthy stuff.
The turkey itself was yummy but a little cold compared to the warm bread. I wish they oven toasted/warmed the whole sandwich instead of just the bread. And one standout part of this sandwich: they used nearly the perfect amount of mustard and mayonnaise. Spot on moisture with a hint of flavor that didn’t encumber the sandwich.
Healthy bacon eaten, I was ready for dessert: the side cookie that came with the sandwich. MIND BLOWN is all I have to say. WOW, that was an incredibly delicious chocolate chip cookie. I would goto Mirasol’s Café in the future just for that same cookie. If only Starbucks could bake this well!
If I’m ever in Dartmouth again, I will definitely be back to Marisol’s Café. But not for the club sandwich, for the highly caffeinated beverages and incredible baked goods!
