Early morning flight to Austin, Texas, for SXSW. Another year! I was quite anxious, hoping everything would go well this year. How could we beat last year’s numbers?

Not hungry due to the nervousness, I thought it would be wise to fill up on something during the 3.5 hour flight from Los Angeles to Austin, so I grabbed a club sandwich from Wolfgang Puck Express to enjoy and calm myself halfway through the flight.

I will start off with a spoiler: poor ratio lead to the downfall of this dish. Turkey was great but a little too chewy. Hints of diced bacon but honestly barely noticeable. Wolfgang’s club sandwich had just one dollop of avocado jardinière – a tease that left me wondering why such a small amount was used… a false promise of avocado, and poor use of a jardinière. Bread was nice. Liked the lettuce. Wish there was more tomato. Expensive for $14.

It was an ok meal that didn’t have a lot of flavor, because the bread muted the turkey and the other ingredients were barely there. Somehow the sandwich felt salty as well, which I didn’t like. A shining star were the baby greens. Honestly, to say this sandwich had avocado and bacon in it is criminal… I felt a little cheated. But I enjoyed the meal and it did the trick.

My senses were calmed and I set my focus on this afternoon and unpacking 6 pallets of URB-E gear. I was also nervous about doing so much having lifting having what felt like pulled shoulder muscles from a week of shingles, but I knew I’d survive.

As we landed I prayed for good luck and didn’t turn back!
