Take it to the Beach
Category: Cafe, Ind. Est.Ordered from Tucker and Bevvy in the heart of Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii.
We love Hawaii.
Roundtrip flights are fairly easy from Los Angeles, but finding time is not. This is why, for better or worse, Rachel and I can usually only go for a day or two. And this time was no different.
8pm flight from LAX on Friday night, land at 11pm in Oahu.
4pm flight from Oahu Sunday afternoon, land at 1am in LAX. Get ready for Monday!
It might not leave us the most time to enjoy Hawaii, but it leaves us enough to get completely sunburned, have delicious food, and catch some waves while surfing. One day we’ll move to Hawaii, but for now, we’re relegated to quick trips.
We know Waikiki fairly well and we honestly love staying there. One of the best public beaches close to a city in the world (my opinion – I’m sure I need to visit more), it offers everything we’re looking for in a 36-hour vacation within easy access.
And that includes a club sandwich.
Walking Kalakaua Ave, Rachel and I were looking for healthy options we could take back to our beach chairs. After 15 minutes, we remembered Tucker & Bevvy. A few years ago we had stumbled upon it, and in the moment, I hoped it was still there…
… and it was! Healthy beach options galore, we picked a few delicious looking items and left for our beach chairs. One of my options was of course, their club sandwich panini.
We ventured back to our prime position oceanside by our hotel, and dove into our meals.
Well presented, the Tucker & Bevvy Toasted Turkey Club Sandwich was meant for hand holding. Easily palmed, I enjoyed the ability to consume this meal seamlessly at the beach. Kudos to the bread for making that happen. I liked the turkey, found it hard to taste the bacon, and thought they went a little heavy on the cheese… but it was enjoyable. I absolutely loved the tomato, just wish there was more if it and other ingredients. Kudos to the green goddess dressing for pulling this club sandwich together. While not the best ratio of ingredients, the presentation did make for an easily consumable meal by the beach.
