It was 2 AM and I was knackered.

Drinks began at 4pm with Will. 6pm with Satch. 7:30pm with Charlie and Lucy. 9pm dinner. And around midnight I showed up at the Kensington Hotel as my last stop for the night for drinks with Spencer.

I loved being back in London for the first time in nearly a decade. A gorgeous and pristine, somewhat walkable city, the weather couldn’t have been better for an early autumn day, and I was enjoying every minute of the trip, arriving at my hotel around 12noon with no plans to return until after midnight.

With no bars in the area open past 11, and the hotel only serving guests staying there, we weren’t going to leave The Kensington Hotel any time soon. Fortunately, as hunger began to beckon my call, I was thrilled to know such a lovely hotel had a late night dining menu. I didn’t even need to look at it, I could feel the presence of a club sandwich at the property. And so I asked the waiter to bring me one, and in less than 20 minutes, he returned with it.

It was 2am and while I was knackered, I couldn’t have been happier hanging out with Spencer enjoying a club sandwich fireside in The Kensington’s lobby lounge.

Warm and delicious, while the sandwich had signs of being prepared at 2:10am, the meal in of itself hit the spot. Moist chicken, albeit a bit flavorless, coupled with hearty British bacon rashers, soaked up the alcohol in my system with each bite. I housed this club sandwich with a massive smile on my face, thankful Spencer had provided the beautiful setting for late night food and beverage.

Around 3am and I called it a night as I left for my hotel and slept the few hours I could before my flight back to LAX. 48 hours in England, I had a wonderful trip, and couldn’t wait to return, ideally next time with Rachel!
