West Palm Beach for my grandfather’s 90th birthday party… what a treat!!
Many family members were in town to celebrate… originally we were thinking of getting a house, but with so many people on so many different schedules, we decided a hotel would be easiest. With it being a holiday weekend, however, hotel prices were high and vacancy was low.
A self-proclaimed West Palm Beach veteran, I knew staying near City Place would make life easy for our group of 30+ people. With most of West Palm at your fingertips, it just sounded convenient and straight forwarded, and after much research we booked the Hilton Hotel West Palm Beach, who couldn’t have been more helpful when it came time to reserving our block of rooms.
Rooms booked, party planned, we landed on the east coast of sunny Florida ready for a fun weekend.
The Hilton Hotel had a fantastic pool area. Lounge chairs abundant, food and beverage flowing, and a zero-entry pool meant everyone of all ages could enjoy the outdoor space. Hunger taking over around noon, and knowing we had a tremendous amount of food waiting for us at Club Colette later that evening, Sarah and I decided to split a club sandwich to quell our hunger in anticipation of the night’s events.
Club sandwich poolside while surrounded by extended family members I hadn’t seen in ages – what a fun moment. And right when I thought the moment couldn’t get any better, the club sandwich dashed my hopes.
Slimy turkey never leads to high quality. And while I loved the avocado, thick and ripe, its deliciousness was negated by its impact on holdability. The tomatoes sparse, and the bacon quite thin, the ratio of this club sandwich concerned me. Still, I did love the toasted white bread, albeit quite thick (thank goodness only two slices!).
A perfect moment, a perfect pool area, remaining unenhanced by this club sandwich… but my lack of care was ever-present as I focused on the night’s festivities starting in just a few hours…
