It was a quick excursion north.

Rachel landed at LAX and we literally hopped in the car and drove up to Morrow Bay for 2 nights.

Our 3rd time here together, I would be remiss if we did not stop at Hearst Castle.

And so we did… Hearst Castle was amazing. Equally amazing was the weekend in Morro Bay and Cayucos, a destination along the west coast many never spend time in but all should get to enjoy.

And to my pleasant surprise, Google Maps had us going through Paso Robles on our long drive home. How could we not stop there?

I wanted to get some wine to go. Rachel wanted olives to go. And we both needed a sandwich to go for the 4 hours ahead of us.

We found my wine at Bookers (thanks to a recommendation from Scott). We found Rachel’s olives (and cheese) at Di Raimondos.

And we found our sandwiches at the highly-rated-on-Google Red Scooter Deli. Packed on a Sunday, I knew we had stumbled upon the right spot. Their menu boasting a wide selection of creative meals, the only thing I wanted was their club sandwich.

Super delicious, Red Scooter Deli’s club sandwich came with mostly great ingredients; I loved the veggies, avocado, tomatoes, turkey, but for the life of me I do not know why they went with the plane cheddar, American-style cheese, when Paso Robles has so much incredible milk-product. In fact, Rachel and I had bought some cheese at Di Raimondos that was fantastic… and here I was, eating a delicious club sandwich that was mired by a processed ingredient.

The side of tomato soup tasted kind of like a pizza’s marinara sauce, which is both good and bad. Overall, however, I didn’t want to be drinking pizza sauce.  Some species and seasonings could have really improved this…. sauce/soup hybrid.

And just like that, we were back on the road to Pasadena. A pleasant experience of Paso Robles in our back pocket, I knew we’d be back…
