Dreams Macao, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
All Inclusive FTW
Category: Hotel, In-RoomEnjoyed from my hotel room balcony at Dreams Macao in Dominican Republic!
27 Saunders family members descending on Punta Cana for a long overdue vacation – an all-inclusive resort was the obvious choice to cater to our family. And after extensive research involving location, room types, dining options, kids activities, and overall costs, we chose Dreams Macao for our adventure.
All-inclusive resorts have many, many positive aspects, but generally speaking most are not well-known for their food. I’m not keenly aware of the economics behind making an all you can eat and drink hotel profitable, but I imagine somewhere in the model there is no ability for a guest to consume more food and beverage than it costs per-person… and this must mean some sacrifice when it comes to quality. Don’t hate me for making this assumption.
Dreams wasn’t entirely different. While I would describe the overall food as above average, especially the buffet (where we began to assume most food on property disseminated from) as well as the one chicken mole dish, many items leave you craving for a bit more. I left every meal overly-full and content, please don’t misread these thoughts, but I was indeed looking for that one, easily accessible item, that I would leave the property raving about.
The butlers at Dreams Macao all use WhatsApp, which is a fantastic way to help organize every need on-property, especially for a group of 27. On my way home from our boating trip, I was hungry and we had limited time to get ready. I messaged our butler asking for a club sandwich, and he responded right away.
Another amazing feature of Dreams Macao is that each room has a unique mini-vestibule for room service to be placed in, so it can be delivered with ease whether you’re in your room or in the ocean. And that meant my club sandwich was waiting for me upon my arrival home.
Absolutely delicious and the best single food item on property, the Dreams Macao club sandwich delivers savory heartiness in each bite down. Perfectly thin and creamy fried egg, a salty and meaty single sliver of ham, crunchy and spicy fresh red onion, and a full, heaping layer of shredded chicken… very uniquely designed and perfectly executed.
My mind was blown, and the only sad part of the moment was the fact I had just discovered this club sandwich at 5pm on our last day… the irony!
I shared bites of the club sandwich with my wife and two sons, who all agreed with me. Slam dunk club sandwich, and a meal not to be missed while on property. The fact this meal was “free” and not an additional cost added to my amazement.
Kudos to the chef for this excellent preparation!
