Early Spring Club
Category: Ind. Est., Rest.Enjoyed for lunch at Society on High in the same building as Meet Boston's fantastic headquarters.
Finally, a gorgeous day in Boston – a long winter lead to a long spring, and finally in mid April, after a snowy weekend, mid 60 degree weather was touching down upon our city.
As luck would have it, my travels on this beautiful spring day brought me into the center of Boston, to tour Meet Boston’s new headquarters and have lunch with the legendary Martha Sheridan, to catch up and share stories.
Incredible, bright interior design with spectacular panoramic views over the city, the new offices showcased Boston at its best: a warm, inviting environment and views that would excite anyone, local and tourist alike.
After the tour, we grabbed lunch at Society on High, a local establishment well known among the business crowd who frequented the financial district. Busy for lunch and after work drinks, Society on High knew how to cater to their repeat customers.
And apparently their repeat customer wanted a club, in a wrap.
Really well layered – a crunchy circle of lettuce, adding lovely texture, gave way to the simple yet quality collection of ingredients. Sliced, and nicely wrinkled turkey nestled against crispy and savory bacon, with a smashing, heap of avocado that added creaminess and nuttiness. The garlic aioli had a lovely tang, although I had to be mindful of the excess sauce that dripped out from the bottom after each bite.
The side of dumped sweet potato fries were good, but nothing to write home about… although I didn’t care so much because I loved this club sandwich! Everything about it was solid, although it was lacking a certain uniqueness that would have put it over the top.
I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for lunch in the financial district – you can’t go wrong, as long as you’re not looking for something special.
