Sam’s Deli & Market, Eastham, MA USA
Focaccia from Heaven
Category: Cafe, Ind. Est.Produced by the team at Sam's Deli in Eastham, Massachusetts, the heart of Cape Cod.
Cape Cod is massive and full of uniquely separate destinations, nooks and crannies just waiting to be discovered… it’s hard to find crowds because everywhere is seemingly off the beaten path.
We ended up in Eastham for two reasons – the first being we enjoy the remote feeling of this area of The Cape, the second, and more driving reason, being it was the only house we could find a month prior to our desired travel dates.
Knowing nothing about Eastham, we relied heavily on google maps to guide our way. Beaches, cafes restaurants, hikes – we were at the mercy of online reviews, but it seemingly delivered, as our experiences everywhere were prime.
Long days at the beach required delicious packed lunches, and so Google guided us to Sam’s Deli, a conveniently located sandwich shop coupled with a market, where a large team of employees assembled sandwiches nonstop. This place looked legit, and I had strong confidence in their club sandwich execution.
Order placed, only a 25 minute wait (talk about high demand!), and poof, our handheld meals were ready.
Legit Sam’s was… the turkey, with a tang of honey mustard, created a meaty and moist centerpiece to Sam’s club sandwich. Divine tomato and avocado played off each other and gave the meal a massive amount of umami – just yum! But my goodness, the focaccia must have been baked in the heavens, this bread was incredible, and one could imagine anything layered between to slices of it would be delicious. And to add to the moment, the focaccia lent itself to superior holdability, and I ate it with one hand as I played with my kids in the sand. Sam’s was solid!
Loved Sam’s Deli, loved Eastham, loved The Cape… cant wait to be back next summer!
